Watch as an aggressive, intoxicated suspect causes damage to a family-run Nisa store in Roundhay, Leeds, West Yorkshire, after being caught attempting to steal goods. The incident took place on 21 November 2023.
The male suspect is seen spending approximately 15 minutes inside the store, throwing products from shelves to the floor, while the store manager waits for police to arrive. Despite several attempts by the manager to retrieve the stolen items and escort the suspect out, the individual becomes increasingly aggressive, even attempting to go behind the counter. Throughout, the manager maintains a safe distance and continues serving other customers.
The suspect finally exits the store shortly before police arrive, leaving a trail of damage behind.
Retail crime remains a serious issue, with an estimated 455 retail and security staff assaulted or abused daily across the UK. Incidents like this affect not just businesses but also communities, costing billions of pounds each year.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6ft tall, with short dark hair, facial hair, wearing a green coat, light green joggers, and blue trainers. He is now banned from the store for life, and any further incidents may be classified as burglary. The store has since been fitted with the very latest fogging system.
