Reported by Catch a Thief UK Investigations Team
A shocking knife rampage onboard a busy Doncaster to London King’s Cross train is now being treated as a potential terror-related incident, after nine passengers were left fighting for their lives and two suspects were arrested at Huntingdon Station, Cambridgeshire, on 1 November 2025.

The British Transport Police (BTP) and Counter Terrorism Policing have declared the case a major investigation after the train made an emergency stop around 7:42 pm, following reports of multiple stabbings during the journey.
Armed officers detained two male suspects at the scene — one of whom was tasered after refusing to drop a weapon. Ten people were rushed to hospital, nine of them with life-threatening injuries.
A BTP spokesperson said:
> “This was a fast-moving and extremely distressing incident. Our officers responded within minutes to neutralise the threat and protect passengers. Two individuals are in custody and the investigation continues at pace.”
🔍 Counter-Terrorism Units Activated
While police are still establishing the motive, sources have confirmed that Counter Terrorism Policing remains heavily involved due to the nature and scale of the attack. The ‘Plato’ protocol, used for potential marauding terror incidents, was activated and later stood down once the suspects were contained.
Authorities are examining CCTV footage from the train and surrounding stations to determine whether the attack was coordinated or inspired by extremist ideology. Both suspects remain in custody for questioning under terrorism legislation.
🧩 Eyewitness Accounts
Witnesses have described panic and chaos lasting several minutes. One eyewitness told ITV News:
“It was total panic — people were crying, jumping over seats, trying to hide. One older man put himself between the attacker and a young girl. He saved her life.”
Passengers reportedly used bottles, jackets, and bags to defend themselves before the train came to a stop.
🚦 Travel Disruption & Security Review
Services between London King’s Cross and the East Coast Main Line remain disrupted as police conduct forensic searches.
The Department for Transport has confirmed a security review across national rail networks following the attack.
Farrah McNutt, CEO of Catch a Thief UK, stated:
“This tragic act of violence underlines the growing threat to public safety and the urgent need for stronger security presence and surveillance within the UK’s transport network.”
