James Coleman, 37, has been issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) after admitting a series of thefts targeting B&M, Tesco and Co-op stores. Over a short period, he carried out repeated offences, stealing goods worth more than £1,100, including everyday items such as food, alcohol and household products.

As part of the court order, he is now banned from entering specific stores he repeatedly targeted. If he breaches this order, he risks immediate arrest and potential imprisonment.

This case highlights a growing trend across the United Kingdom, repeat offenders targeting the same stores again and again, often with little immediate consequence.

THE REALITY ACROSS THE UK

This is not an isolated incident.

Across the country:

• Tens of thousands of shop thefts are reported every day

• Violence and abuse against shop workers continues to rise sharply

• Retail staff are increasingly facing threats, intimidation and assault

• Retail crime is costing businesses billions each year

Shop workers are being pushed to the front line, dealing with criminal behaviour on a daily basis while simply trying to do their jobs.

PETROL THEFT – A GROWING CRISIS

This problem does not stop at shop doors.

Forecourts are also under pressure:

• Fuel theft is costing the industry over £1 million per week

• Drive-offs and “no means of payment” incidents are increasing

• Organised groups and repeat offenders are targeting petrol stations

• Staff are facing increasing levels of abuse and confrontation

Fuel stations are now among the most targeted retail environments in the UK.

THE ROLE OF CATCH A THIEF UK AND PAY MY FUEL

At Catch a Thief UK, we deal with cases like this every day.

Working alongside Pay My Fuel, efforts are focused on:

• Recovering losses from fuel theft

• Identifying and exposing repeat offenders

• Supporting businesses and staff affected by crime

• Raising awareness to deter further offences

Too many offenders act believing there will be no consequences.

That mindset is being challenged.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Retail crime is no longer minor or opportunistic.

It is becoming more organised, more frequent, and more aggressive. It affects not only businesses, but the safety, wellbeing and morale of staff across the country.

If left unchecked, it will continue to escalate.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

We stand with retail workers, forecourt staff, and businesses across the UK.

If you steal, threaten or abuse staff, you will be held accountable.
